Brief life sketch of এস. এম. হারুন-অর-রশীদ,

Director General, 
Bangladesh Television.
 

Mr. Haroon-or-Rashid has started his term as Director General of Bangladesh Television on 14 January 2016. He is a senior member of the country’s Civil Service Administration Service, a cultural activist, playwright and former journalist. His professional career is magnificent and manifold. As a member of Bangladesh Civil Service he has a diversified work background in different capacities for more than 30 years. Prior to his present posting he worked in the Ministry of Information as Additional Secretary. He worked in different units of the field administration. Mr. Haroon’s work stations at the central level include NGO Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, Ministry of Defense, etc. He also worked in Bangladesh Mission abroad. He acquired vast knowledge on frequency management along with new technology and human resource development. He is a resource person on media and communication.
Mr. Haroon did his higher education in Mass Communication and Journalism from University of Dhaka. He received different types of training on Telecom management, development of media content, transmission and broadcast system from USA, Germany, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, India, Belgium, Singapore, China and Hong Kong. These trainings have enriched his skill and capability. As a prominent playwright Mr. Haroon wrote many television dramas. He also planned a good number of television programmes. He received many awards and certificates for his contribution in different fields of media and communication. 
Mr. Haroon was born in Serajgonj, in 1962. Serajgonj is a riverside locality of Bangladesh, where the people and nature are illuminated by the frantic flow of river Jamuna. From his childhood, Mr. Haroon got the opportunity to develop himself by taking velocity from the river and beauty from the nature. These have made him esthetically affluent and simultaneously responsible, obligated and sensible to the people.
